Dear Parents,
Entering School: The staff at Upshire value your child’s education very highly. Our vision states that we wish to help every child achieve independence. With that aim in mind we are changing the arrangements for KS2 children entering the school in the mornings.
After half term all KS2 children will be allowed into their classrooms at 8.40. Quiet work will be set for them, handwriting, spellings, maths etc. The bell will go as normal at 8.45 when all children should be in school and the register will be taken as normal at 8.50.
We are finding that some parents want to talk to the teacher and this delays the whole class. Under the new arrangements KS2 children will come into school by themselves. If a parent wishes to see the teacher, an appointment can be made after school at a mutually convenient time. Parents can always give a note for their child to give to their teacher.
Other schools are finding this system works well.
KS1 children and those in Reception will come in as normal, lining up in the playground and being collected by the teacher at 8.45.
Leaving School: Lessons for KS1 finish at 3.00 and lessons for KS2 finish at 3.10. Children will leave school after that time when notes have been given out and outside clothes and bags etc. have been gathered. Your children will not leave the building until they are ready. All KS1 children are brought to an exit and delivered to the responsible adult. KS2 children are led down the stairs and leave the building by the main door.
